Darren Shock, a Senior Consultant in our Hamilton office, joined Millier Dickinson Blais in 2009. He completed his Bachelor of Environmental Studies (Honours Planning) at the University of Waterloo, where he also received a Diploma of Excellence in Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Darren is currently working towards becoming a Registered Professional Planner, and full member in the Canadian Institute of Planners (CIP), as well as pursuing the Economic Developer Designation through the Economic Developers Association of Canada (EDAC).
Prior to joining Millier Dickinson Blais, Darren worked as a junior planner with Armstrong Hunter & Associates, where he assisted with development applications in support of residential and non-residential developments across the Greater Toronto Area and Southern Ontario. Working as a planner provided Darren with a valuable perspective on the interaction between land use planning priorities and economic policy development.
Darren first entered the field of economic development after graduation from university, as an economic development researcher with the City of Barrie. With the City of Barrie, Darren gained hands-on experience in economic development programming at the municipal level, as well as undertook a number of projects associated with the use of GIS as an economic development tool.
Darren is originally from Hamilton, and currently lives in Guelph with his partner Kelly.
